After all of the efforts of volunteers, local businesses and local communities with their support and donations received for the Ukraine Appeal, today the collection was made to get the much needed humanitarian aid and relief to people in Ukraine and to those also having to flee the country.
It has been an emotional time since we started the appeal for all those involved over the last couple of weeks, but seeing the lorry leave Tarasivka today has made the reason for doing this a lot more personal.
Being able to do our bit with helping Ukraine and its people to stand up for what we all believe in, freedom, democracy and the right of being able to live the life we want to live.
Thank you to all involved, Weston School, Chellaston School, Webb Removals, M&S Distribution Centre, Wathalls Funeral Service, Dunelm, Swarkeston Nursery, the local scout group and to all the volunteers, the humanitarian aid has now left to reach those in need.
We have been working closely with Mission without Borders Aid charity who suggested that the AID be re-directed via their distribution centre in Moldova for it to then be sent on to the people in Ukraine and also to help with all those fleeing Ukraine into neighbouring countries..
Whilst we are not taking any further donations, we are currently working and speaking with the charity and logistics with arranging a second lorry to be sent over soon as possible due to being overwhelmed with the kind generosity from the general public,
Once again we thank you all.
