OUR SUMMER CAMPS
A 6 week camping season usually begins on the second weekend in July through to August
Our summer camps for our youth members aged 3 - 17yrs inclusive are unique: they combine the immense fun of living in tents and barracks with a variety of recreational and sporting activities as well as the all-important educational element which adds to their life skills and patriotic upbringing.
For decades children of the Diaspora have learnt about Ukrainian culture, heritage, history, contemporary political and social issues in Ukraine by attending these summer camps. It’s a period of being immersed in all things Ukrainian and where the Ukrainian language is spoken, heard, promoted and encouraged at all times.
Huge numbers of friends-for-life have been made in this central community hub and many families are now counting their fourth generation of members.
TECHNICAL
3 week technical camp for members aged 18+
During these 2 weeks Tarasivka is prepared for the arrival of our youth members. Young adults, usually students, learn from older mentors how to erect tents, assemble beds, maintain the grounds , check essential equipment and appliances for safety and functionality and generally clean and tidy the main camping areas.
It’s three weeks of hard work but also a great opportunity to learn new practical skills, work as a team and socialise with peers.
SPORTS
1 week sports and physical activity camp for 12 - 17yr olds
A fun and action-packed week of activities indoors and outdoors. These activities include: cycling, football, netball, volleyball, rounders, zumba classes, yoga classes, as well as activities brought on site by specialist companies, for example, orienteering, zip wire, climbing walls, canoeing and much more! Lots of fun but also great for learning some team building skills, developing confidence and generally learning to become more aware of personal health and wellbeing.
RECREATIONAL
2 week camp for all ages
2 week camp for all ages which includes a separate programme of activities for a parent and 3 -6 yr olds.
For 7 - 17yr olds this is an educational and recreational camp. Our youth enjoy a varied daily timetable of classroom type activities where they learn about their cultural heritage, history and traditions, celebrate and commemorate important dates in the Ukrainian historical calendar and also enjoy sports, games, crafts, music, song and dance.
They also learn valuable social and interpersonal skills in preparation for their futures.
