CYM Volunteer Stories - Natalya

Hartuis! What’s your name?

Hartuis! My name is Natalya.

I am Holova of Oseredok Ashton, and part of the committee that organises summer tabory.

During summer tabory, I am Komandant of Tabir CYMenyat, which is for our youngest members aged between 3-6 years old.

This is my CYM story.

Tell us about your experience with CYM

CYM has been a huge part of my life since I was 6 years old, when I attended my first summer tabir. I now have the pleasure of taking my own son to “Tarasivka”, nicknamed by CYMivtsi as ‘The Field of Dreams’! It makes me happy watching my son make the same amazing memories as I did growing up.

As a leader during summer tabory, I see the huge impact that CYM has on our members firsthand. From building friendships, to enjoying Ukrainian culture and traditions together, to learning new skills and growing into the future of CYM.

CYM brings members together to experience what our Ukrainian heritage is all about. Every year CYM holds both a regional and a national rally, where our whole community can perform their Ukrainian songs, dances and poems to crowds of our families and friends!

I grew up taking part in these CYM rallies with oseredok Ashton, and it filled me with pride to be able to perform the dances and songs of my Ukrainian heritage!

“CYM is brilliant for all ages to get involved in. Not only does it help you make life

long friends, it brings together all aspects of Ukrainian history, culture and traditions”
