Today, as we stand united at our Крайовий Здвиг, we are reminded of this year’s CYM Motto - the profound words of Lina Kostenko’s poem: “Evil will perish and truth will overcome!” These words echo through Ukrainian history and resonate deeply with the challenges Ukraine faces today. They remind us of our resilience, our unwavering commitment to truth, and our unyielding spirit in the face of adversity.
Krayoviy Zdvyh is not just a moment in time or an annual event; it is a celebration of our shared values, culture and accomplishments. This year we commemorate significant milestones: the 10th anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity, a pivotal moment when Ukrainians bravely stood for their rights and dignity; the 10th anniversary of the start of Russia’s war with Ukraine, a stark reminder of the challenges we continue to confront with courage and determination.
We also honour our cultural heritage, marked by the 450th anniversary of Ivan Fedorov’s groundbreaking work in printing Ukrainian texts, which laid the foundation for our language and identity. Furthermore, we celebrate the visionary leadership of Mykola Pavlushkov, whose legacy on the 120th anniversary of his birth continues to inspire and guide CYM members worldwide.
This year, we also celebrate the 60th anniversary of acquiring our national youth centre, Tarasivka. For six decades, Tarasivka has been a sanctuary of joy and unity, hosting National Rallies, events, annual commemorations and summer camps. It has been a cornerstone for our CYM community, fostering a sense of belonging and a place where friendships are forged.
As we look to the future, let us remember that next year we will celebrate a monumental milestone—the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian Youth Association’s formation. This centennial is not just a reflection of our past but a promise of our future, a future where our culture thrives, our unity strengthens, and our truth prevails.
As we gather today, let us do so with pride and joy. Today is a celebration of our culture, our traditions, and your unwavering love for Ukraine. Let our cultural expressions serve as instruments of resistance, beacons of hope, and enduring testaments to our unbreakable Ukrainian spirit because in the words of this year’s CYM motto “Evil will perish and the truth will overcome”.
